Flight Test

To dStarBooster 5 Demonstrator will be the first full-scale StarBooster system to be tested at operational

Mach numbers.  In the interim, during 2001-2003, Cal Poly Space Systems  (CPSS) flight tested

the StarBooster configuration up to 1/3rd scale of the StarBooster 5 Demonstrator.

They successfully demonstrated

transition to gliding flight under radio control from the ground.  In December 2001, CPSS launched the first

subscale dual StarBooster with core stage. On May 19, 2002, CPSS demonstrated successful separation and

independent radio flight control from the ground of dual StarBoosters.

On May 17-18, 2003 CPSS launched, recovered and relaunched the three-vehicle clusters.

Onboard video showed booster turnaround and return to launch site.

Ground video captured the successfully landing of the two boosters.
